Katie Cooley, Founder of The Joy Yoga Project, has a PhD in Integrative Medicine and Health Science and has extensively studied and researched modern postural yoga, somatic practices, and embodiment. She is a nationally board-certified health coach and adjunct teaching faculty at Saybrook University's Integrative Wellness Coaching program. She also serves as a board member and supports curriculum development for Akhila Health, a nonprofit that empowers underserved women.

Katonah yoga® is a syncretic form of Hatha yoga. We incorporate metaphor, functional movement, and principles from Taoism, geometry, and math. The focus is on availability rather than flexibility— and the process of making the body more available takes repetition, technique, and time.
